Places 2 Go
Atlanta by Night
Places 2 Go
(the 2 means we're 1337)

General Interest:
- or -
Areas you want to go but don't know how to get to:

Area: Ponce DeLeon Ave. (warning: some people will pronounce this Ponce Delean)
Attractions:
Innovox Lounge: A cyber Cafe and Coffee house.
Gumbo-A-Go-Go: Local Cajun food, cheap and lots of it. Yum.
Misc:Home Depot, Borders bookstore
Directions from Techwood Dr.: Go south on Techwood, take a left on North Avenue. Drive until you see a Publix (still under construction). Turn Left. Turn right on Ponce. Go gaily forward.

Area: Howell Mill Rd.
(Generally everything around here is useful, but generic)
Attractions:
Mellow Mushroom and Fellini's Pizza: Two amazing pizzarias on Howell Mill. Try the calzones at each place. The Siciclian White Pizza are good too.
Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant: Cheap decent mexican food. I'm not saying great food, but the chips are free and the salsa is ok. Best value: Nacho El Amigo.
Directions from 5th street:Take the 5th street bridge across 75/85 (also called the connector) and turn left immediately across the bridge. Go straight through 2 stoplights and you will merge onto 75N. Warning: before you merge onto 75N, just after the light, the lanes will mysteriously shift left almost a car length. Be aware: the person in the next lane may try to merge into your car. Take the second exit, which is Howell Mill Road. Go left or right: To your right is Fellini's Pizza, Blockbuster, a Wachovia ATM, Bi-Lo, McDonalds, Chick-fil-a, and the Post Office. To your left is USA BBQ (they are not good), Wendy's, Max and Elmo Bagels, NationsBank, Kroger, Mellow Mushroom, Subway, Arbys, Ace Hardware, and Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant.

Area: Little 5 Points
(You've been here or been told you HAVE to go.)
Attractions:
I warn you, it's probably more trendy than you've heard, but if you like vinyl, techno, and underground music (Wax N' Facts, Criminal Records), healthy or specialty food (Sevenanda Co-op), or some funky eateries (Savage Pizza, The Vortex), not to mention expensive clubbing and fetish attire (Lucky Devil, Junkman's Daughter), it's good for an afternoon.
Directions from 5th street:Take the 5th street bridge across 75/85 (also called the connector). Take a right on Spring street. Take a left onto North Avenue. Go straight. Keep going. Keep going. Pass Videodrome (an AWESOME Indy and Foreign movie rental place. More anime, horror, foreign and weird films that you can shake a stick at.) At the next light, take a right. About two blocks up you will be surrounded by Little 5. Warning: you have to pay to park on weekends.

Area: Cobb Parkway (Hwy 41).
(The closest complete big deal suburban highway.)
Attractions:
There is WAY too much stuff around here to list it all, so here are some highlights: 2 malls, 2 theaters, hordes of resturants, Barnes and Nobles, Best Buy, Media Play, Hooters, Toys R. Us., and 24/7 Walmart.
Drive for about 15 minutes, looking for the 285 West exit (a large intersection you probably won't miss). (285 is the big loop that runs around Atlanta, if you didn't know that). Take the 285 West exit, but keep to the right. When you approact the stop light, you're looking at Cobb Parkway. Go left or right. (The Walmart is right, Barnes and Nobles is left).

Area: GA 400
(actually, the area near where 400 splits from 85N.)
Attractions:
24/7 Home Depot, Oxford Comics (+ tons of random stores)
Directions from 5th street:Take the 5th street bridge across 75/85 (also called the connector) and turn left when the street deadends into the Biltmore. Turn Left. Go straight until you see a ramp break off to the left. Follow it. Stay in the left hand lane. When you come to a stoplight, turn left. Go under GA 400. Home Depo will be on your left. To get to Oxford Comics, follow the road until it dead-ends, then turn right. The road will dip under a railway trestle, then climb a hill. Oxford Comics will be on your right.

Area: Georgia State University
(actually, the area near where 400 splits from 85N.)
Attractions:
A really nice library (with more than just technical journals!), and Cinefest Theater. The GSU student theater. Really neat because it shows midnight movies and occasionally double features (Mad Max and Beyond Thunderdome on the big screen. Drool.). Plus the Atlanta Silent Film Society has monthly screenings there. Features really old movies as well as second runs and independents.
Directions from Techwood Dr.:Take Techwood Dr. Off of campus. (If you go the wrong way you will hit a building. Turn around.) When you see the stadium ahead on your left, look for the turn onto Marietta Street. Turn left. Go straight. When you see a bridge ahead that says Georgia State University, look for a McDonalds classic burgerstand and a pay parking lot. Park. Walk down the street towards the bridge that says Georgia State University. Cinefest is up the stairwell located on the left side under that bridge (there is a sign on the wall which says Cinefest.) The library is above and around you. Ask someone around how to get there quickest. Cinefest Address:
Georgia State University | University Center | Suite 211
66 Courtland St. | Atlanta, GA 30303
Phone: (404)651-CINE Fax: (404)651-0012

Area: I-85
Attractions:
The Big Purple Monster (What we call the Regal Hollywood 24. When you see it, you'll know why)
Directions from 5th street:Take the 5th street bridge across 75/85 (also called the connector) and turn right on Spring street. Follow it until you cross North Avenue and see the access ramp for 75/85 North. Follow it. Get left ASAP. Keep going.

Well, that's all the big stuff that occurs to me now. There are, of course, a few "family secrets" regarding neat stuff nearby, but if we tell you all they won't be secret anymore. But if you drop by and ask us real nice....maybe we'll show you.
